At 5,306 ha this farm is the ideal size for anyone who is looking for a game farm for breeding or hunting purposes. The current owners bought the farm in 2001 and have been successfully running hunting operations on it ever since.
Below some details of the farm.
Position: Kalahari North of Hotazel, close to the Botswana border
Lookout Points: Two thatched lookout points for game viewing at one of the pans/waterholes
Bush Camp: Four large tents on concrete plinths, two tiled toilets/showers, hot and cold water (donkey), solar powered lights, gas operated fridge.
Butchery: Large tiled slaughtering facility, 3m x 3m cool room (two compressors, 4°C), stainless steel tables and racks, worse stopper, bone saw,professional vacuum packer.
Trophy Room: Trophy room with wooden shelves, salt bay with own French drain, biltong-drying facility.
Shooting Range: Well equipped shooting range: 100m, 150m, 200m
Owner’s House: Fully furnished, tiled throughout, large lounge (high ceiling), two bedrooms, two studies, large kitchen, large cold room, outside store room, staff toilet, guest toilet, large walk-in safe, fire place in lounge, outside Jetmaster braai, large covered patio, car ports for four vehicles.
Equipment: Toyota Hi Lux Bakkie Diesel (12 years), Toyota Land cruiser Pick up Diesel (3 years), Toyota Landcruiser 100Series (10 years), small trailer for retrieving of animals, large trailer (break neck, winch) for retrieving of Eland and Giraffe, off-road trailer converted into a “cooler box on wheels” (300 liter) for transporting of meat, bowser (water), Diesel fuel station.

Eland (35), Kudu (70), Springbok (200), Waterbuck (45), Zebra (80), Red Hartebeest (65), Gemsbok (120), Blue Wildebeest (130), Impala (40), Duiker (100), Steenbok (100), Giraffe (9), Warthog (?), Ostrich (100), Others: variety of rare animals such as Aardwolf, Brown Hyena, Honey Badger, Pangolin, Bat Eared Fox, various cats (Lynx, African Wild Cat, Small Spotted Genet), occasionally Leopard, Cheetah and Wild Dog (end of last year three came into the farm from Botswana, killed one springbok and returned), Aardvark, Porcupine, Springhare, Scrubhare. Large variety of birds (220 species as per Roberts).
Special Game: Habitat Analysis for the introduction of Buffalo and Sable Antelope has been conducted and has been approved by the Department of Nature Conservation.
Holding Pen: Newly built, large bouma for loading and off-loading of game.
Diseases: Malaria free area, in eight years no tick found on a hunter, known as an excellent cattle area, neighbours are cattle farmers
Habitat: Savannah (grass, bush, trees), sand, two habitat analyses were conducted by an independent biologist.
Land Claims: Farms in the area were only established around 1948. No land claim exists (confirmed by the commissioner).
Airfield: Airfield constructed in the way that it could be registered, 1000m runway built of calcrete with 100m over-/undershoot on either side (fenced in), largest planes landed to date: Pilatus PC12 (nine-seater), King Air 200, Cessna Caravan.
Hangar: Well constructed hangar (15m x 30m), car port for trailers and vehicles, room for deep freezes and staff rations, fuel shed for aviation fuel.
Manager accommodation.: Extension of the hangar, air-conditioned, 150 m².
Staff accommodation: Four houses, electricity, hot and cold water (donkey), indoor flushed toilets, one room with “double-decker” bed and wash basin for extra slaughtering staff (during hunting season)
Lodge: Five air-conditioned en suite bedrooms, dining room – kitchen combination, pool, outside Jetmaster braai, large covered patio on two sides, bouma, satellite dish, each guest room equipped with a gun safe, carport for four vehicles, laundry in separate building.
Power: Eskom power (single phase)
Water Supply: Borehole and connection to the “Kalahari Pipeline”. Kalahari pipeline serves the North of the farm and the buildings with fresh water (restricted in volume to “household use only”). Borehole water slightly brackish.
Fence: 34 km of 8 foot game fence (certified, exemption certificate)
Waterholes: 6 ground level waterholes, one close to the lodge and one floodlit near the owner’s house, feeding by large plastic tanks and one open dam
Bow Hunting: Two bow hunter hides at waterholes, recessed into the ground.
Hides: One large thatched hide at a long pan for hunters who unable to walk. |
